Easy DIY Firepit Table

The colder months ahead call for more cuddling and even more cozy nights at home. This can be the perfect opportunity to get closer to your loved ones and explore new hobbies with them. An excellent way to do that is by building a fire pit in your backyard, so you and your family can sit around it and enjoy the cool evening air. We’re sure you’ve seen plenty of fire pits before, but did you know that this simple structure has the power to bring out the best in people? Like a good book or movie, an outdoor fire pit will instantly provide you with some quality time while also lighting up your imagination. With these DIY fire pit table plans, you can build your very own outdoor space without breaking the bank. The project isn’t difficult so long as you follow each step carefully and take your time measuring and cutting the wood pieces. Read on for all the details!

What You’ll Need

For this project, you’ll need the following materials: A tape measure. A pencil. A hammer. A screwdriver. A saw. A square ruler. A rubber mallet. A tarp. Wood planks. Nails. A staple gun. Metal mesh. A fire pit bowl.

Step 1: Find a good spot

The first step to building your own fire pit table is finding a good place to put it. You’ll want to make sure that the table is close enough to your home so that you don’t feel too far away, but also far enough away so that the smoke doesn’t get in your home. You can also decide on the aesthetic of your backyard area. You might want to put the fire pit in a different spot than you originally had in mind. This can give your backyard a whole new look and feel. It can also be a great way to use up empty space by building a fire pit in an otherwise-neglected area.

Step 2: Cut and lay the timbers

Two of the most important timbers in this project are the table legs and the base. The table legs will be the part of the structure that holds the rest of the table up. The base will be what the fire pit is built on top of. To begin, use the tape measure to measure out the length of the table legs. It’s best to make the legs just a bit shorter than the width of the table to make sure the legs don’t press down too hard on the wood. Cut the timbers to the right length, and then use the square ruler to make straight lines across the timbers. Make lines across the timbers every 6 inches or so. You can do this on either side of the timber, whichever is easiest. It’s now time to lay the table leg timbers down on top of the table. Make sure they’re centered properly, and then use the hammer and nails to secure them in place on the underside of the table. firepit table

Step 3: Create a ring of bricks

The next step in this project is to create a ring of bricks around the outside of the fire pit table. This will help contain the heat from the fire and create a more contained experience for those sitting around the fire pit. Start by using the tape measure to measure the diameter of the table. Then, go ahead and place the bricks in a ring around the outside of the table. Make sure they’re close enough together to hold them in place, but not so close that they’re touching each other. You can use the rubber mallet to gently tap the bricks into place.

Step 4: Cut the hole for the fire

Next, cut a hole in the middle of the metal mesh for the fire to sit in. You’ll want to make sure to measure the diameter of your fire pit bowl so you know how big the hole needs to be. Then, use the saw to cut out the hole.

Step 5: Lay an insulating mat

The next step in this project is to lay an insulating mat on top of the bricks. This will help insulate the bricks from the heat of the fire, preventing them from getting too hot and protecting the tabletop that you’ll rest on top of them. Lay the metal mesh on top of the bricks, and then simply lay the rubber mat on top of that.

Step 6: Lay the mesh on top of the mat

Now that the insulating mat is in place, it’s time to lay the mesh on top of it. Lay the mesh on top of the tabletop. The mesh should be placed so that the holes in the mesh are on top, and the shiny side is on the bottom. The shiny side of the mesh is the side that will be touching the tabletop when the fire pit table is finished.

Conclusion

Fire pits are a great addition to any backyard space and can really help to bring people together. If you’re looking for a fun way to get your family members out of the house and interacting with each other again, then a DIY fire pit table is an excellent choice. Fire pits are also great for entertaining and for hosting friends for backyard barbecues. They’re a great conversation starter, and they’re sure to help you make lasting memories with those you love.
