World of Warcraft Classic: Blizzard Plans For Classic WOW

Last week we talked in length about the Burning Crusade, the first extension for the original World of Warcraft. After the release of Naxxramas with phase six, Blizzard no longer has content for the game. For a long time, there have been rumors about the inclusion of the Burning Crusade in Classic WOW. It was one of the few choices for Blizzard if they wanted to continue to support the classic version of the game. Beyond the rumors, they have taken some actions that hint at an official announcement for the Burning crusade.

For months, World of Warcraft fans have been waiting for an announcement from Blizzard that would confirm the rumors about the coming of the Burning Crusade to the classic version of the game. We covered some of these rumors in previous articles but there was no confirmation from Blizzard. The release of Shadowlands, a new extension for the original World of Warcraft had made the prospect of future projects concerning Classic, less realistic. However, the actions of Blizzard lately brings new hope for Classic fans.

They have sent a second survey to Classic players by mail, asking them about their interest in a classic version of the Burning Crusade. Here is a full list of the questions appearing in the survey:

  1.  How interested are you in a “Classic” version of The Burning Crusade?
  2.  Thinking about your main WoW Classic character, would the character you create on this new “fresh start” realm become your new main character or would you play this in addition to your main character?
  3.  Where do you think you would spend more of your time?
    1.  A new “fresh start” WoW Classic realm where all content is reset to Day 1.
    2.  The Burning Crusade Classic.
    3.  I’d play both equally.
  4.  How likely are you to play a “Classic” version of The Burning Crusade?
  5.  If World of Warcraft introduced a new WoW Classic “fresh start” realm where the game is as it was on Day 1 (e.g., all players start at Level 1, Molten Core and Onyxia are the only raids available, battlegrounds are not yet available, etc.) and the content unlocks/progresses over time, how interested would you be in playing on that realm?

Some of these questions are intriguing; it would be interesting to know for example what Blizzard exactly means by a fresh start. It appears several times in the survey and it will likely serve as an alternative to releasing a classic Burning Crusade. Blizzard will probably give us more information about the future of the game during Blizzcon in February. You can buy WoW gold and Classic gold at GoldPiles now!
